dessert bars are the new magnolias.

we've been spending a lot of time in kowloon city lately, hitting up the yummy dessert bars. here's some pictures of the tasty (and the terrible) treats.

Mango soup with herbal jelly-hong kongers really love anything in jelly form.

this is my new friend moss and i with some of the yummier desserts. (moss is from mainland china, but he is attending university in hong kong). he and john (see picture below) spent last semester in texas.

this is some sort of yummy ice cream/gelato thing that they run through a machine which flattens it into a sheet and falls into a funny little pile on your plate. at the bottom you can see more herbal jelly and also some terrible white dumpling-y balls.
this is Sophia, also from mainland china (she didn't know about Tienanmen square!) she is sporting the camera i almost got and she said she almost got mine. she takes pictures of everything, she is like my tall, Chinese twin.
ah this was disastrous. some sort of soup in a coconut filled with stringy somethings, those white dumplings, and tiny beads.

  3. Your friends and the desserts look nice, but how did these "exotic" deserts taste?
