hk!

guess who is in china?!

so real adventures:

travel was fine. 14 hours to seoul and then 6 from seoul to hong kong. there was a nasty snowstorm in seoul so our plane had to be de-iced. heres a picture of

we got into hk around noon hong kong time and dropped out bags and headed to dim sum. first meal: chicken feet and cow stomach. cow stomach is great but chicken feet are really fatty and difficult to physically eat with all of the bones.

yesterday we headed to mong kok and wandered some markets and ha

d some sushi. apparently the japanese are loving avril lavigne this year. mong kok is exactly how I imagined hong kong:

we met up with our chinese tour guides and headed to hong kong island. the internationals and i have come to suspect that when people say that "everyone in hong kong speaks english," that they are refering to hong kong island. there it is very much like new york and everyone we interacted with spoke clear english (which has not been the case in kowloon tong, where my school is). hong kong is interesting in that they have built with their landscape instead of over it. we stopped by the IFC (the tallest building in hong kong), saw the legislative assembly building, rubbed some lions for luck (which came in handy as a few hours later I fo

und a token to use on the ferry back to kowloon), and used the longest outdoor escalator.

then we took the ferry (me for free!) back to kowloon to see the avenue of stars and watch the laser show.
